Touke
Touke 【Name of township】Beituen Chiu
【Types of terrain】mountain、hill
【Description of terrain】
Touke Mountain constitutes Dakeng Recreation Area. It is part of Fengyuan Hill, located to the west of Central Slate Mountain, and in the eastern part of Beituen Chiu. Its height is between 150 and 800 meters, occurring in the east, with an average of 400 meters. It constitutes a natural boundary between Taichung City and Taichung County. All the mountains of Touke Mountain are crossed and cut by the east-west oriented Dali Stream, a tributary of Han Stream, and the parallel Dakeng Stream and Puozih Stream.
【Types of geology】gravel、sandstone、shale
【Geological description】
The eastern part of Touke Mountain is composed of eroded gravel layer of Huoyan Mountain, which is one kind of bad land. A mix of sandy shale layer and argillaceous sandstone layer can be found in the west of Touke Mountain or eastern part of Taichung Basin, starting from the southern bank of Dajia Stream, through Fengyuan, Jyungong, Dakeng, Kuozih, Tou-dian-keng, Wufeng, to the northern bank of Wu Stream. These mixed layers are inclined to erode due to weathering effect, which constitutes a major cause of irregularly shaped landscape in the eastern edge of Taichung Basin.
