Liou
Liou 【Name of township】Beituen、Bei、Jung、Shi、Nan、Nantuen Chius
【Types of terrain】river
【Description of terrain】
Liou Creek used to be called Dong-da-dun Stream; its upstream and downstream used to be called Cioucuo Stream and Ciou-da-lou canal, respectively. The banks of Liou Creek are the origin of Taichung City, where early immigrants gathered. When administrative districts of Taichung City were rearranged in 1916, the creek was renamed as Liou Creek, meaning a creek of willow trees, due to the numerous willow trees growing along both of its banks. Liou Creek originates in the south of Fengyuan City, and then flows through Tantz. It enters Taichung City from Beituen Chiu, then exits in Nan Chiu to Wur of Taichung County, and finally joins Han Stream.
