Mayor Jason Hu and his Taichung City Administration is a team with such goals as serving people as the first priority, and being creative and efficient. They are revitalizing the city’s economic development by fostering culture, and upgrading and reinforcing economic structure. In addition, they have employed or are planning to employ such projects as Central Taiwan Industrial Park, rail transit system, reviewing urban plans, improving police affairs, reducing crime, beautifying city’s settings, improving social welfare, and building a citywide internet environment. Jason Hu envisions that Taichung City should be different from Taipei and Kaohsiung Cities, the two largest metropolitan areas, by emphasizing and reinforcing its merit as a city of culture. Hence, he aggressively demands the Central Government for such projects as Guggenheim Museum, National Palace Museum, and National Theater Concert Hall.
