【Description】
Taichung City is located in the central part of Taiwan. It overlooks transportation connecting northern and southern parts of the island; the under-construction high speed rail road will pass through Taichung City, and the Central Area International Airport was opened here in March 2004. Another important project here is the under-construction Central Area High-tech Industry Park. All the above jointly make Taichung City superior to other cities in terms of fostering bank and business industry. The total number of registered banks, insurance companies, real estates, and business and industry services, were 6,427 in 2001, which altogether accumulated to a value of some 206 billion NT dollars. Most stores are concentrated along Mingcyuan Rd. in Shi Chiu, including Taiwan Cooperative Bank, Lank Bank, and International Commercial Bank of China.
