【Description】
Agriculture land in Taichung City is scarce, randomly scattered, and decreasing year by year. The primary agricultural area is located in Beituen Chiu, growing both vegetables and fruits, particularly oranges and tangerines. In 2001, 2,660 tones of oranges and tangerines were harvested in the area of 110.85 hectares, which was 58 percent of all fruits and vegetables grown in Taichung City. The oranges and tangerines grown in Beituen Chiu are famous because they are sweet, juicy, big, and full of vitamins A, C, Calcium, Magnesium, Phosphorus and Zinc. The harvest peak is fall and winter.
