【Historical description】
Beituen Chiu was part of Mao-Wu-Cih-Bao during Cing Dynasty of
China. In 1887, it was reassigned from being part of Changhua
County to Taiwan County. In 1920, it was called Taichung-Jhih,
Datun County, Beituen Village. On February 1, 1947, it became
part of Taichung City, and was renamed as Beituen Chiu.

Location:
Beituen is located in the northeast part of Taichung City. It is bounded by Tuku Stream (west side), Taoke Mountain (east side), Bei Chiu, Taiping (south side), Tantz, and Shinshe of Taichung County (north side).
Description:
Beituen Chiu used to be called Shan-Jhih-Jhang-Li. Later since it was located to the north of Dong-Da-Dun, it was renamed Beituen. Beituen Chiu is the largest district in Taichung City. Its landscape contains various elements. And life styles in Beituen Chiu are most comprehensive. It is an urbanized agricultural area, located at the edge of Taichung City. Han Stream divides this district into Stream East and Steam West sub-areas. Stream East sub-area is close to hill area, where most residents are farmers, growing rice, fruits, and bamboo roots. Dakeng bamboo root is one of the most famous products. Most of industrial and business entities are located in Stream West. Dakeng Recreational Area and Taichung Folk Park are the two most popular recreation sites in Beituen Chiu. The climbing pavements in Dakeng Recreation Area, full of natural landscape, attract lots of visitors. In addition, hot spring is another special recreational attraction of Beituen Chiu.
